Question by ..Queens of the Led Fighters..: Why do you guys use stereotypes?
Bogotá D.C.
Country poorly portrayed in the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”: helicopters bombing Bogotá, an apocalyptic scenario with houses on fire, illustrating the capital as a rural little town with no buildings or evidence of any urban development. Hotels with fans give the idea of an unbearable heat, even though Bogotá is 2640 meters (8661 feet) above sea level. No pavement on the streets and a bar filled with rioted chicken. The actors who play the part of the police men in this Colombia deplorable cartoon wear weird uniforms and speak with Mexican/Caribbean accents even though Bogotá is not anywhere near the coast and some Colombian regions are recognized for having one of the best Spanish in Central and South America, and are even criticized/made fun of by the rest of the country for having a somewhat stiff accent.
For those of you who are ignorant and get their ideas from movies, this is for you. Colombia! Check these videos out and tell me your previous beliefs then your current beliefs.

I think you should just chill. It’s just a movie and it’s fictional. I could see where you’re coming from it was an actual documentary but it wasn’t even that. It’s just like how in some movies they show all of the desolate areas of Africa when even they have city-like areas there as well.

Question by Allan the bad guy of YA: I’m looking for the name of a salsa song,”Donde estas Corazon Donde estas, No te veo” or something..?
I just remember those words that are repeated many times in the song
“Donde estas
Corazon
Donde estas
No ve veo”
I don’t know if it’s a recent song or maybe of late 90′s.
The singer is a male.
A lot of trumpets and drums
I don’t remember the melody of the other parts of the song, I just remember this part above.
I don’t know which country it is from…Maybe Puerto-rican, or Colombian, or Dominican,or Cuban, or…
It’s a bit the same style as Victor Manuelle, but it’s not his voice.
Best answer and 10 points for the first person who can find it…
Thank you in advance

Question by Brigitte: Professional Salsa Academy?
I’m Colombian and I love salsa dancing. I already know the basic but I’d like to learn how to dance not only that but many other styles of music in a professional level. Does anyone know where I could find a professional dancing academy in Houston, Texas? Thanx

I’m not sure if there is such thing as professional salsa academy. Salsa is not as formal as ballet or modern, I don’t think there are degrees or majors in salsa. I think if you want to be a professional dancer specialising in salsa you need to find a good salsa instructors and study salsa. If you want a degree in dancing you should go to a school that teaches somethign more formal than salsa.
What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Sandi: Where can I find a good class for salsa lessons in LA? Particularly the South Bay area?
I am Colombian and while I know how to dance salsa (or so I think LOL!) I’m looking for a class where I can learn more of the skilled dancing. I’m especially interested in learning Colombian style dancing because I love their style, it’s different from the way any other country dances salsa, hard to explain, you just have to see it for yourself. But if I can find a course with a Colombian instructor that would be great!!! : ) Any ideas?

Question by Bittersweet: Recipe for Colombian style “Arroz con Pollo” dish?
I am trying to make this dish a Colombian friend of mine made for me before. I pretty much know the main recipe, of the chicken, rice, carrots/peas, but I need an entire recipe so I can learn to make it myself. I was also told it sometimes has hotdog pieces in it. I also prefer the recipe with the shredded chicken pieces, not chopped ones; and with the tomato sauce, not salsa verde (or green sauce). So if anyone out there specifically knows how to make this wonderful Colombian style dish, please any advice would help. Thanks!

Maybe this is close to what you’re looking for…(you could always remove the chicken from the bones and shred it once it’s done cooking):
****Arroz Con Pollo****
1 (3 pound) chicken cut into 8 pieces, skin removed
Salt and pepper
1 lime, juiced
1/2 cup pure Spanish olive oil
1 onion, small dice
1 green pepper, small dice
1 roasted red pepper, small dice
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup prepared tomato sauce
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup dry white wine
12 ounces beer
1/2 cup sherry
3 cups chicken stock
1 1/2 cups Valencia rice, soaked in cold water for 1 hour
5 saffron threads
1 cup frozen sweet peas
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and lime juice. In a large casserole or dutch oven, heat the olive oil. Brown the chicken, remove the chicken from the pan, and set aside.
Add the onions, peppers, and garlic to the casserole. Cook until translucent. Add the tomato sauce, cumin, and bay leaf; cook for another 5 minutes. Add the chicken, wine, beer, and sherry, and cook for 5 to 8 minutes. Add the stock, bring to a boil, and adjust the seasoning. Add the drained rice and the saffron.
Bring the mixture to a boil, cover, and cook in the oven for 20 minutes.
Remove the rice from the oven and add the peas, fluffing the rice and mixing in the peas at the same time. Serve hot.
