Answer by Christina:life is a candyland
I think A sounds much more romantic, and the Mexican food will make you feel bloated, and it won’t make you smell/or taste the best you can if you catch what I’m trying to say. Lol.
Sounds like a nice night to me
Have fun!

Question by Gabrielle: Anyone who live in the Lancaste/Palmdale area?
So my husband and I recently moved out here and we like to go out once in a while to clubs to dance. So far we have only been to one club but it was the worst experience ever, it was this spanish club I mean the music was ok but the bartenders had no idea what they were doing. So my question is does anyone know of any good Spanish clubs those that play cumbias, merengue, salsa corridos all that good stuff? we also like going to Hip/Hop and r&b clubs. We know that there are good clubs in LA area but we don’t want to drive out there its like a 45-50 min drive. So I would be happy to hear any ideas
Thanks!

Question by Beaver: Menu ideas? Gourmet food?
I have a project for a class which requires making a menu. It has to have the following criteria:
at least 5 appetizers, 5 soups or salads, 10 entrees, 5 beverages (virgin ones), 5 desserts. I need help coming up with gourmet salads, vegetarian entrees, beverages, and desserts. Help? To help you get a feel for what I’m going for, here is my current menu:
Appetizers
British Mushrooms
A deeply rich and savory spread served with garlic rye bread.
Walnut and Goat’s Cheese Bruschetta
A crunchy toasted walnut bread with caramelized walnuts and goat cheese on top.
Bacon-rolled Enokitake Mushrooms
The strong smoky flavor from the bacon compliments the subtle flavor of mushrooms in this dish.
Figs with Prosciutto and Roquefort
A balance of sweet, salty, and savory is greatly obtained in the wonderful mesh of flavors.
Japanese-style Spinach with toasted Sesame seeds
The subtle sweetness from the spinach and umami from the sesame create a luscious way to start a meal.
Prawns in Chili Sauce Canapé Style
These little prawns with chili sauce serve as an excellent finger food or appetizer.
Soups
Avocado Soup
This soup has a fresh delicate flavor and a wonderful color. The tang of lemon zest compliments the creaminess and sweetness of the avocados.
Swiss Chard Soup with Miso and Orzo
Orzo and tomatoes are juxtaposed with Asian ingredients here.
Minted Spinach Soup with Yogurt Cheese and Toasted Pine Nuts
Mint and spinach dance gracefully in this dish as the yogurt cheese and pine nuts give it a texture and taste that dazzles the senses.
Herbed Butternut Squash Soup with Chive and Sweet Red Pepper Yogurt Cheese
The creamy comfort of butternut squash and the heat from the red pepper create a mix of flavors that creates a new twist on an old classic.
Pureed Fennel Soup with Julienned Carrots and Toasted Walnuts
The subtle sweetness and licorice flavor of fennel plays well with the crunch of walnuts and the sweetness of carrots.
Gazpacho
This cold soup is a very refreshing dish. It has crisp layers of flavor, unlike those tasting like confused salsa.
Entrees
Roti of Homard with Vanilla
This mouth watering roasted Homard, a type of Lobster, is sure to enlighten the taste buds with the delicate favor of vanilla.
Cocotte of Bacon and Country-Style Cabbage
The savory, rich, and salty flavor of bacon play around with the bitter flavor of cabbage in a way unexpected.
Foie Gras and Flatfish with Citrus Sauce
The richness of foie gras serves as the perfect bed for a flatfish with a tangy citrus sauce.
Sea Eel Royale with Truffle Sauce
The fishy taste of eel and truffles with wine create a combo layered with many levels of flavor, creating many subtleties the keep you wanting for more.
Squid Ink Risotto
The saltiness of squid ink is a welcome inclusion to a risotto made with the finest rice, topped with shellfish and prawns.
Buffalo Tartar with Lime Sorbet

Venezuela’s economy is dominated by the natural resource oil, there is an abundance of oil, the fishing industry is still developing and hasn’t made it far, anchovies are the main catch, followed by tuna, farming isn’t important because only 4% of the land in Venezuela is fertile, Venezuela mostly imports most of its food. Other than oil there is large amount of iron, diamond, coal and gold, because of these natural resources nearby industrys are rapidly being expanded. But the other most beneficial industry is tourism, with many visitors, coming from Germany, Great Britain and Canada. It exports mainly to U.s., the Netherlands, Germany, and mostly imports are from the u.s. usually machinery.
Schooling is mandatory and free for students from 7-14 years of age, but afterwards secondary schools are less developed and have a 50% drop out rate. The country has 20,000 elementary schools, and has a 92% literacy rate that is increasing.
Venezuela has a population of 22 millions, which is increasing at 2.5% a year, the fastest growing in south America, although half the population is under 18. Cities near coastal line, have a higher concentration of people, but areas like Los Llanos have less. 67% of the people are of Mulatto-Mestizo descent, whilst the remainder is mainly white (21%), African(10%), and indian(2%), many immigrants from Columbia, the Main religion is Roman Catholicism. There are many indegious people who are being threatened by Brazilian gold diggers.
Music in Venezuela is a mix of Spanish, African and indegious rhythyms, the traditional music is Gaita, and the national dance is Joropo, but the most popular is the merengue, from the Dominican republic, and Salsa. They mainly depend on Spanish culture , for literature, but some native literature unfolded in the 1850’s, during the 1900’s many writers were made among them were Andres Eloy Blanco, Romulo Gallegos, etc. Art prior to Spanish settling was mainly rock carvings and cave paintings. During colonial rule it was mainly religious paintings and sculptures , such as St Peter The Apostle, after independence it was mainly history as a dominant theme. During the 1900’s art changed to modern art. Houses and buildings were traditionally Spanish styled.
Venezuela has a democratic state since 1958, the president is elected by vote after 5 years, which are non-renewable. The Chamber of deputies(House of Commons), has 205 seats. The highest court is the Supreme Court of Justice, the freedom of speech is there but due to government criticism, many news are censored. Venezuela has a large biodiverse animal life, because South America has been isolated for 70 million years, and while the rest of the world was in an ice age south America was free, so many species continued to survive. There are about 250 mammal species, inclueding Jaguar, Puma, Sloath, and fresh water dolphin, also it has the endangered Giant Otter(Only 5000 left in the wild because of poaching, 60 left in Captivity.) My Spanish writing abilities are very limited. However, you should improve the English version before translating it to Spanish. Definitely have someone proof read this. Translation sites have troubles with ‘imperfect’ writing. Besides weak sentence structure, poor grammar, punctuation and spelling, you have some incorrect or incorrectly stated facts. Venezuela is not a Spanish country. It is Spanish-speaking. The president serves a 6 year term, not 5 and term limits were lifted last year.

Question by Elle: I have never seen a President of America hold such disrespect for our brave military, have you?
What a thrill to be invited to Latin Music night at the White House. Every Latino who mattered was there from J.Lo, to Eva Longoria-Parker, to Sonia Sotomayor. Unfortunately, Spc. Jesus O. Flores Jr. of La Mirada, California was not in attendance — he was busy dodging the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Though irresolute on some issues Barack Obama has been right on schedule when it comes to supporting music and culture.
Since day one, Obama hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to drawing all kinds of celebrities and music groups to his monthly installments of music night. For Noche Latina, “Michelle and Barack Obama sat one table over from J.Lo and Marc Anthony, and all four of them were rocking in their seats as Sheila E. shook the house.”
And while Shelia E. was “shaking the house” with that Latino beat, four soldiers in Kandahar province Afghanistan were being shaken on all sides by mortar fire as they patiently waited for the President to make a decision about sending troop reinforcements, which to date he has failed to do. Twenty-eight soldiers from Fort Carson have died in the last two weeks alone. Generals in Afghanistan continue to lose soldiers as Obama drags his Mexican nortego dancing feet trying to make a decision about troop reinforcement.
Adventura lead singer Santo, scheduled to perform at Fiesta Latina, ecstatically said, “A lot of times minorities get treated like second-class citizens…it doesn’t feel that way today.” No need to worry Romeo, Hispanic soldier, Spc. Jesus O. Flores Jr., and the rest of those serving in Afghanistan have been unofficially awarded the title of “second-class citizen” from the Commander-in-Chief, Barack Obama.
One has to wonder, if Obama was as indecisive about picking finger foods and dessert options for Fiesta night as he is about accepting the recommendation to send 40,000 troops from his commanding Generals in the field? American soldiers’ lives hang in the balance.
Flores likely would have preferred Obama spend his night concentrating on making a quick decision about a troop surge. Instead, the President chose to spend precious time delighting guests while making sure to not step on Thalia’s toes “…who lured him onto the dance floor.”
The day after Fiesta Latina, Obama cooled his tired Salsa-heels, while the tents were disassembled, the white folding chairs were collapsed and the candied cacao swept from beneath the tables. At the same time, thousands of miles from the White House, Flores, part of diverse band of brothers, was fatally wounded when a Taliban planted bomb struck the vehicle he rode in.
According to deputy social secretary in charge of the White House music series, the President and First Lady, “…made it clear early on that they wanted to use their new home as a platform for the best and the brightest that America has to offer.” It appears as if that elite group consists of people like Los Lobos, Tito “El Bambino” and Latino guest chef Maricel Presilla. Nowhere on the guest list were the names of Staff Sgt. Glen H. Stivison Jr., Spc. Daniel C. Lawson, and Pfc. Brandon M. Styer, all of whom died alongside, Jesus O. Flores Jr. waiting for Obama to send reinforcements.
If all goes well for the Obama’s cultural music series, hopefully the four flag draped coffins arrive home before their deaths hamper the party atmosphere of Classical Music Night.

I’m just mentioning this guy because I’m stunned that I like him. He’s a White Hasidic Jew who is a raggae artist. He has the bushy beard and everything. His name is “Matisyahu”. If you like a more commercial raggae (like Bob Marley and company), then you might actually like the guy. I heard about him a few years ago but just laughed at the idea of this guy being any good. It turns out that he actually is pretty good.
If you really like latin music, I also discovered “Orishas”, but they’re more of a latin rap group. Try them both out some time.
